I used to be generous with my time when starting a new series. But now, if it hasn't caught my attention by fifty pages and them completely dragged me under by the end of the book, it's chucked out the metaphorical window.
I have an odd love/hate relationship with fantasy. I like the genre in theory but I find most of the writing to be somewhat bad. I don't know why. Many of the classics of fantasy fiction are missing some large piece that would make it a good story.
Honestly I do not know of a good fantasy series besides Lord of the Rings that is beginning to end great. Some I like at the beginning but the ending is bad. Dunno. I'm always open to recommendations but I feel like the hype for these series rarely matches the actual quality.

Fast and the Furious 7 is where the series really gets some traction. So, I mean, I guess it's just furious.
